About the event

We all know that great music moves us.  We also know that we can curate a playlist that shifts our mood and makes the world seem better.  The idea that sound affects our physiology is nothing new, and yet there’s always something new to understand about the impact this has on us.  In that spirit, we’ve put together a workshop in response to the global upheaval we in the drum circle facilitatorion world are experiencing.

Join Zorina Wolf and Greg Whitt for a two and a half hour workshop that explores the rhythms and chants written or sung by the late, great Babatunde Olatunji.  Baba is near and dear to the hearts of many drum circlers, a direct lineage through some of our own teachers to the music of the motherland.  His recording career spanned more than 50 years and his 1959 debut album Drums of Passion paved the way for the world music genre.

During this online program we’ll learn the lyrics and rhythms to three songs taught as Baba would’ve shared them back in the day.  AND since we’re on Zoom, we’ll use breakout rooms to discuss how the meanings of this music are especially relevant today on the heels of world-churning events.  Learn new music for your repertoire and deepen your understanding of how that music makes an impact.

The workshop is offered on a sliding scale of $30-$80.   Choose your price point, no-strings attached.  We want to fill the screen (and fill the world) with good music with great meaning.

Join us Sunday, May 23 at 4pm Pacific Time.
