The Djonga is an original drum design, created by Fritz Wurth, a drum builder who lives in the Black Forest region of Germany. Vize, (Fritz’s nickname,) developed this drum with the desire to unite the sound qualities of the djembé and conga. The design form creates an intensive bass, a clear open tone and with a cowhide skin, a pure and melodious sound. This is truly a unique instrument.
Vize has created the djonga with the option of three different tuning styles:
- with cords, similar to the Djembé
- with stakes, similar to Kpanlogo drum
- with hardward, similar to conga drums
These drums come in a variety of sizes and woods: either cherry, chestnut, or pine and measuring in diameter from
9 to 13 inch heads. Prices will vary according the Euro-dollar exchange and shipping costs. More of Vize's drum designs. For prices, please inquire!
